Our Trip Through Asia

where

Planning for an long term trip like this can be very tough. Once you start researching countries, looking at different cities, national parks, beaches and parties to attend you realize that you might never want to come home. Then you start to question where will home be anyway? After we leave Seattle, will that still be our home? I’m not really sure, I’m leaning towards saying no.

Let me get back to why your reading this page anyways. Where are we going? As of right now this is the plan.

South Korea - Japan - China - Singapore - Malaysia - Thailand - Laos - Vietnam - Cambodia - Indonesia - New Zealand

Although I can’t say it will end like this or even somewhat similar. Once you have nothing holding you back you have no real reason to stick to any plan at all anyways. Now that’s liberating!

why

This is a hard question…

Why are we going on a 8-12 month trip across Southeast Asia? Eric and I had talked numerous times about giving up our jobs and lives here in Seattle, to just travel and explore the world. That always seemed like a pipe dream… We had every reason not to go: family, friends jobs, bills and loans were all reasons to stay put.

Well that all changed after we got engaged. We had planned a trip to Europe in May 2010, our first trip over seas! After we got back we decided that we really wanted to explore, and get to know other people and places. We were in Europe for two weeks, and that just isn’t enough time to really get to know the places that you are visiting.

So, we got married in May 2011, and had already started to save to pay off our credit cards, and Eric’s school loan. We thought, no better time then now! We are so excited to see all the different people and sights that are in Asia! We have read so many inspiring travel books and blogs (that are in our resource section), that have made us even more excited to embark on this journey!
