French baguettes in Laos

The small town of Luang Prabang is quite possibly the most beautiful Asain city in the world. It's quaint, quite and filled with lovely French architecture. We spent multiple days walking the tree lined streets, eating at the extremely cheap vegetarian buffets and drinking at the very popular Utopia bar. slide shows below

Filled with lovely temples like the Haw Kham Royal Palace and Wat Xieng Thong there is no lack of inspiration for a photographer with a fully charged camera. In all reality though you would be missing out if you never left the city center. Just outside the main city you can explore and walk up the sides of the beautiful Kuang Si Falls or swim at the base of the 200ft falls in small turquoise pools of water.

762 Turns later

When Cassie and I set off on one of our most epic motor bikes trips we had no idea what really lied ahead. We knew that Pai was a good distance away from Chiang Mai, we also kew it was supper hilly and had heaps of turns, but how do you really prepare yourself for 762 mountain turns? Luckily we got a suped-up motorbike which had no problem taking us up and over these mountains with ease; although it was certainly a bit stressful at times.

Once we arrived and settled in our place we set out to explore all the waterfalls and rivers in the area. One thing is for sure, we never get tired of swimming at the base of a lovely waterfall. One of waterfalls we walked out to took us wading through a river 82 times. Yes, we actually counted every time we criss crossed this river there and back.

After a few days of exploring and chilling in this artist/hippie village, we had our fill and started our journey back to Chiang Mai. Luckily we made it back safely with Cassie taking control of the motorbike across this beautiful countryside.

Ch-bodas Waterfall!

One of our reasons for heading out to Bogor, Cibodas, and Cianjur was for the easy access to beautiful nature. We settled into our place in Cibodas and we headed out early the next morning to hike up to the Cibodas Waterfalls. I believe it was three or four waterfalls in total. While the hike was a little streneous, it wasn't too bad, unlike the actual condition of the trail, which was falling apart at the beams. Like the one I just happened to fall through. Don't worry though, I was fine and back up on the trail in minutes.

It was certainly all worth it in the end. The waterfalls were beautiful, and on a plus side it was missing the usual trash that has a tendency to spoil beautiful sites in Indonesia. After soaking up the mist and snapping our photos we headed back down the mountain to enjoy some food. As we're sitting chatting to a restaurant owner we realized we had stickers from Seattle all over his shop: Huskies, REI, Mighty O Doughnuts. After chatting for a while he told us his brother had lived in Seattle for a few years and was a chef at one of the sushi restaurants in Belltown. Small world.
